Amazon Is Looking To Expand Their Ticket Service

Amazon is working toward expanding their ticket sales.

Amazon is known for providing the all-encompassing, never-ending, one-stop shopping trips of America. Need something? Amazon is probably the first place you look.

Now, to add to their already massive inventory, the online retailer has announced they are looking to expand their ticket service that, until now, has only been available in the U.K. Launched just last year, Amazon Tickets has sold tickets to a multitude of shows thus far, from an Elton John concert to a Wicked performance.

The company is looking to “position Amazon Tickets as the world’s premier destination for purchasing tickets” in Asia, Europe, and the U.S, according to recent job postings. A different posting cited Amazon was looking for new employees to “to develop [their] international expansion strategy for Europe and Asia.” They have also reportedly hired employees in their Seattle office to work toward the project.

All signs point to tickets.

Prime Tickets might also soon exist for those with a Prime membership, but details about that have yet to be announced.

One post in particular addressed the mission of Amazon tickets:

“Our vision goes beyond just selling tickets as we aim to disrupt the entire live entertainment experience, including what happens before, during and after the show,” another posting says. “The ticketing business is ripe for innovation and improvement, as much of the industry has not fundamentally changed since the 1970s.”

We’ll just have to wait and see what Ticketmaster thinks about this.

Justin and Christian Martin Hold Standing Rock Fundraiser

Dirtybird brothers Justin and Christian Martin held a surprise fundraiser at Pop’s Bar in San Francisco’s to raise aid money for the Sioux tribespeople and activists fighting the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in Standing Rock, North Dakota.

The idea for a surprise vinyl event had been in the works for some time and ended up being tweaked into a special fundraising party. The small San Francisco bar housed 150 people, raising a total of $900 for the cause, while listening to two of Dirtybird’s finest spin some tunes.

Justin Martin commented: “I chose Standing Rock because I really don’t think it’s getting enough attention right now, and it’s really heartbreaking.” He adds “And I’m not a very political person… but this is a cause that deserves attention.”

The DAPL has been a site of controversy since April of this year, causing heated clashes among law enforcement and protesters. The Sioux people are worried that the pipeline will negatively impact water quality on the reservation and jeopardize cultural heritage sites. The Martin brothers are now among many activist groups, companies, and private citizens that have contributed donations to the cause.

“It’s a group of people who are living off the land and have already overcome so much. The thing that’s so heartbreaking about it is that there’s a treaty that was signed by our government to give them the right to keep this land. And all of a sudden, we have these major oil corporations with all these people invested–everybody you can imagine has money invested in this–and they’re just being… motherfucking bullies. That’s the bottom line,” Justin Martin said.

Continuing the charitable deeds, Christian Martin also mentioned that he was playing another benefit sometime this week in Santa Cruz.

Meet the Man behind Kygo’s success

main Meet Myles Shear – the man responsible for the rapid rise of famous tropical house DJs Kygo and Thomas Jack.

Shear is a 23-year-old natural entrepreneur with a keen eye for artistry as well as solid investments, having put together his own management company and invested in streaming services such as India’s Saavn.

Recently in a Forbes interview, Shear detailed his tactics and outlined the musical journey with Kygo and Thomas Jack from a business and artistic perspective. Shear’s interest in the dance community stems from his own exploration into producing and DJing. Eventually he started his own music blog and that allowed himself to make the proper connections to start his own management company. Shear says:

“When I was 18 I went to college, and I ended up moving over to Full Sail, which is a college dedicated to entertainment business and music. When I went there, I decided I needed to figure out a way to get my music out there more. I created a blog called EDM Sauce. All of my other friends were creating blogs, so I figured if I could put all of these blogs together, what could happen? So I started doing that with my own music around that time, and it wasn’t really working. So I thought, ‘Maybe it’s my music?’”

Utilizing SoundCloud as well as the blog as a platform for discovery is the brilliant formula used by Shear to really jumpstart the careers of Kygo and Thomas Jack.

Shear describes the situation: “I was just about to turn 20, and I reached out to Kyrre on Facebook to represent him. I said, “I love your music. I came across you on SoundCloud.” I told him what I was up to and what my vision was. I got on a Skype call with him, and I think he liked my enthusiasm, because the next thing you know, I was managing Kygo.”

Shear talks about booking their first show in Paris and describes the room as small – and now they’ve just sold out an arena in Paris – all of this will be detailed in their documentary. Ultimately it was Shear’s inexperience that allowed him to really grow into being a manager and being involved in the entire process for each of his clients. Shear’s saying is: “No experience is the new experience.”

TomorrowWorld Left for Dead as Imagine Takes Over Its Weekend

It was tough enough to be the ones to break the tough news about TomorrowWorld going away for 2016. However, TomorrowWorld signed off stating that it was not gone forever. After the initial devastation set in, fans tried to hold their heads up high and look towards that epic Castle Stage touching down in 2017. Now we are in December 2016 and nary a peep from TomorrowWorld, however SFX is set to emerge from bankruptcy. For reference, TomorrowWorld announced the dates for 2015 in October of 2014.

In the gaping hole in the Southeast music festival scene, Imagine Music Festival decided to step into the void. The festival expanded to 3 days and moved to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Now Imagine has announced its return for 2017 and that should send a chill down the spine of TomorrowWorld fans, the reason being that Imagine is moving to September 22-24 of 2017. That means Imagine is taking place when TomorrowWorld historically has been, and there’s no way a festival would double book in the same city. Imagine must be quite sure of the fact that TomorrowWorld will not be taking place anywhere around that time. Unfortunately, the tough reality is that either TomorrowWorld is dead or making a major move in date/location.

To add to the intrigue, fans are also growing worried that Tomorrowland Brazil is in danger as well. For the 2016 festival, the first wave of headliners had already been announced by late November and the festival takes place in late April. We are already seeing tickets and lineups for festivals after April, and Tomorrowland Belgium has already announced its own 2017 dates and 2 weekend expansion. There is a glimmer of hope as Tomorrowland recently posted a cryptic tweet about “the next chapter”, which is either Tomorrowland Belgium or a super late Tomorrowland Brazil announcement.

The calm before the storm… Are you ready for the next chapter? pic.twitter.com/PCxZ3pdJ1C

Where one door closes, a window opens and Imagine Music Festival tickets are now on sale here. Let’s hope this is not the last we hear of TomorrowWorld and Tomorrowland Brazil.

These days, making your mark is a little more difficult; however, paving the way to his own success is rising star k?d, who offers his own take on the Justice remix of Simian’s “Never Be Alone.” Combining the classic French house sound with a modern electro house tinge, and keeping in those incredibly infectious vocals, this is a remix for the ages indeed.

Diplo Hints at Upcoming Tinashe Collaboration

Diplo has worked with everyone from Madonna to The Weeknd, so at this point listing all of the artists he hasn’t worked with would be more challenging. A collaboration with singer/songwriter Tinashe has been in the cards for a while now and sounds like a pairing that would’ve happened at this point, yet the two still haven’t released a collaborative track.

However, on the heels of her collab with marshmello, a recent Snap taken from Diplo’s Snapchat story hints that the collaboration with Tinashe may finally be coming. Diplo posted a short clip in the studio of Tinashe lying on a couch and giving the camera the proverbial finger. This collaboration may end up differing from the previous hinted collaboration between the singer, Jack Ü, Miguel and Njomza, and it may end up being a track from Tinashe’s long-awaited sophomore studio album Joyride. The collaboration may be a Diplo single as well. The possibilities seem endless!

Taylor Swift Has Most Profitable Breakup From Calvin Harris

She may be crazy, but she is definitely smart. It’s no secret now that the Calvin Harris track with Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For,” was in fact co-written by Taylor Swift under a pseudonym, Nils Sjoberg.

The track quickly solidified its position as the commercial house anthem of the year, raking in over 566 million streams on Spotify, reaching #3 on US Billboard Hot 100, and becoming certified Platinum twice by British Phonograph Industry. The breakup of the year turned out to be one of the most profitable ones, maybe in electronic dance music history.

A top five single on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart could allegedly earn a songwriter between $500,000 and $600,000, and with name recognition from Calvin Harris, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift, “This Is What You Came For” continues to rake in money.

Swift owns a stake in her publishing company, as well. Because of this share, and because she has the songwriting credit for not only the Calvin Harris track but also a well known country hit “Better Man,” she accrued more than $1 million dollars from both songs collectively. Earlier this year, Forbes estimated that Swift is worth over $170 million from the past year alone. This is is from her already existing catalogue as well as touring revenue, on top of her songwriting profits. This is definitely a lesson in what you need to do to ensure financial security as an artist: diversify your income.
