Rita Ora Sings “Lonely Together” For First Time Since Avicii’s Death [WATCH]

The news of Avicii‘s passing hit especially hard for everyone who has ever worked with him. Across the board, you’ll hear how hardworking and talented he was — and every artist is commemorating

Rita Ora, one of his most recent collaborators, did a very special tribute recently at 538Koningsdag in Breda. To remember the legend, the singer asked for a minute of silence before she busted into their track “Lonely Together.”

After getting everyone’s attention, she explained just why the song would be so hard for her to get through. She kept it together, as she spoke highly of Avicii — someone she says, “changed my life.”

“I haven’t sang his song that we did together every since he passed away until today. So, it’s going to be very hard for me to sing this next song.”

With Avicii gone, the song does sound a lot more lonely now. Rita Ora, naturally, nailed her tribute and many other DJs including Hardwell spun Avicii material into their sets to remember the dance music great over the weekend.

RIP, Avicii.

Mac DeMarco – Chamber Of Reflection (Mickey Kojak Cover)

I recently stumbled upon the groovy cover-work of Australian vibe-maker Mickey Kojak and I’ve gotta say – I’m pretty impressed. His cover of Daft Punk a few months back put him on the radar and now he’s solidified his position as an artist to watch with yet another soulful cover.

This time he takes on Mac DeMarco’s “Chamber Of Reflection” and gives it a smooth and soulful cover complete with silky synths and deep harmonized vocals. It’s crazy to see how Kojak has transformed a modern-day psych-rock favourite into a wavy dreamy indie-pop number, but some how he’s done it in style.

Robotaki Releases Groovy ‘Science’ EP

Robotaki kicked off the year with a slew of fresh new singles so it was only a matter of time before we saw that being packaged into a bigger piece of art. That new piece comes to us in the form of a brand new EP Science released via Majestic Casual Records.

The EP features two new original records plus a beautiful intro along with the three already released records in “Butterscotch,” “Together We’re Screwed,” and “Limbo.” Listening to the previously released three singles in fuller context of the rest of the EP’s tracks also somehow makes them sound even better than they already did as single releases.

Stream the EP in full below and look forward to his forthcoming summer festival tour as well!

Rezz Gives Update On Deadmau5 Collab, “That Will Happen”

Rezz‘s cult following always comes up with ideas of who they want her to collaborate with — and she has some news for those hoping deadmau5 is one of them.

As she’s revealed to us, she’s not willing to meet in the middle when it comes to her productions (full interview here). She doesn’t want to sacrifice any part of her artistry just for a collab. If its a good fit, however, she’s 100% down.

“I won’t do a collab jus for the hype of it,” she just revealed in a post. “Don’t care if some1 only has like 1 follower, or 10 million if they make cool shit I’m down.”

A fan quickly came back with — “Ok but collab with @deadmau5.”

And now, we have some explanation as to why this dream collaboration might take a little longer than fans expected. The mau5trap artists are certainly planning on it, but here’s the current sitch.

“I have been working on stuff and I’m just trying to make an idea that will work for both of our vibes n hope he likes. Im patient for it tho I don’t jus wanna send him something mediocre.”

We feel you, Rezz. Whenever this collaboration does happen — it will be worth the wait.

Burning Man Founder Larry Harvey Has Passed Away

The founder of Burning Man — Larry Harvey — has passed away.

An simple black and white photo, an official statement, and a quote from Harvey has taken over the organization’s website. With this full page spread, Burning Man remembers its fearless leader.

Our founder, friend, and original instigator, Larry Harvey has passed away. Larry was a visionary, a mentor, a philosopher, and a passionate advocate for Burning Man’s culture and principles. We have lost our founder. The world has lost a great human being.

It’s true. The dance community has lost another amazing individual.

Larry Harvey was said to be in critical condition a couple of weeks ago, after suffering from a “massive stroke.” He was surrounded by close friends and family, and Burners sent an outpouring of love and appreciation leading up to the time of his passing. Though everyone hoped he would recover, he passed peacefully yesterday morning at 8:24am in San Francisco, with members of his family at his side.

We’ll leave you with a quote from Larry Harvey.

If you bring a little soul to the encounter,
maybe you’ll see something you didn’t look for;
maybe you’ll open your heart a little,
and see things that you didn’t imagine.

Laidback Luke Pays Tribute To Avicii With Meaningful Vlog [WATCH]

Laidback Luke was one of the very first contacts Avicii made in the music industry. As the late producer’s career was just budding, he’d send in demos through Luke’s forum for critique. With each track, he kept getting better and better — exponentially better. And soon, he was a star.

Sometimes the brightest stars burn the quickest. Now, Laidback Luke is commemorating the legend in his latest blog — A Tribute To Avicii. In the video below, details of his life and career are discussed, as well as the pressures of the industry and how to deal with stress properly.

The biggest takeaway from this tribute: Speak up. Don’t be afraid to tell someone if you have anxieties or stresses, whether you’re in the industry or not. These are not weaknesses. Take care of yourself and those around you.

More than ever, Luke believes it’s important to share Avicii’s story with anyone and everyone. As long as his music stays in our hearts, he’ll live forever.

Let’s make sure we all remember and honour Avicii. The best way to do that is to keep his legacy alive. Listen to his music, watch his videos, watch the documentary and tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your kids about this amazing guy Tim, aka Avicii that had such an amazing influence and was such a lovely sweet hardworking kid but also tell everyone about his mistakes so we can all do better…

Watch below as Laidback Luke remembers a true friend — a legend.

Kaskade Is On A Mission To Get Fans Unblocked By DJs For #PayItForwardDay

Kaskade is really getting into #PayItForwardDay — which is today in case you haven’t already heard.

He’s bringing DJs like The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, and Tiësto back together with people they’ve blocked in the past. Whether it’s an artist or a friend, Kaskade is using his power for good and mending these  online relationships the best he can. There’s only one exception — “no trolls or stalkers.”

Some are receptive to the unblocking movement Kaskade has started, and others not so much. Even deadmau5 put up a little fight before giving in and unblocking a fan. But, he did it because, at the end of the day, it’s Pay It Forward Day after all.

If there’s anyone you wish would unblock you from social media, don’t hesitate to hit up Kaskade. But make sure you do it today before #PayItForwardDay is over. Unfortunately, by tomorrow everyone will forget about this whole thing and go back to their normal lives.

Maybe deadmau5 will even reconsider his block on us. Just, maybe.

Kaskade Does Pay It Forward Day

Today is National #PayitForwardDay.
I’m traveling for most of the day, but I have WiFi. So, my idea:
If u’ve been blocked by a fav artist or a friend hit me up + I’ll plead ur case to get u unblocked.
Who knows? Maybe we repair a few relationships.
No trolls 😈 or stalkers 👿.

— Kaskade (@kaskade) April 28, 2018

Wtf is this shit? Probably got botted. I don’t sit here and manually block people all fuckin day.

— Goat lord (@deadmau5) April 28, 2018

I’ll take that as a thoughtful “Maybe” then? https://t.co/v406d8Zc5S

Are Diplo & Madonna Hinting At Something Big To Come On May 8th?

In lieu of President Trump and Kanye West’s comments about ‘dragon energy,’ Diplo looks to have also hopped onto the bandwagon when he jokingly, or so we assume at least, captioned an Instagram post about trying to find his. While the story could have just as well ended there, it became even more curious once Madonna chimed in.

Madonna, of all people, then responded to that post with a reply in the comments, “you’ll find it on May 8th.”

Could it be that the two pop superstars have something up their sleeves for us? May 8th doesn’t fall on a Friday, which has become the day of new music releases globally, so it might not be a new collaboration. While that’s not to say that it definitively isn’t a new record, it does feels like we may just have to wait and see unless they choose to reveal more.

Kanye West Teases Strange New Single “Lift Yoursef” [LISTEN]

Kanye West is back in full force — with his first new wave of music since Life Of Pablo. The single is called “Lift Yourself” and it’s interesting to say the least.

If you’re expecting a modern day masterpiece like “Wolves” or “Fade,” this may or may not be it. Hopefully though, he’s just holding out on us.

“Lift Yourself,” like much of Kanye’s work, opens with some soulful vocal sampling before breaking it down into a super fresh beat. But, the next verse though… The bars…

I’m going to drop a song with a verse that will bring Ebro the closure he’s been seeking

The bars 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It’s called Lift Yourself

— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 27, 2018

Honestly, we’re not sure what to make of the track, but if we weren’t questioning Kanye West then he wouldn’t be doing his job. With every release, he pushes us outside our comfort zones a little more — and he has yet to fail us.

Despite all this “shoopy poop” heard with “Lift Yourself,” we want to believe it’s still ok to put our trust in Kanye, especially with two new albums on the way.

The first album is a solo Kanye West release with 7 songs dropping June 1st. Next up, Kanye and Cudi have a joint album coming out June 8th. This will christen their new project together, Kids See Ghost.

As for the new single, it’s available to stream via kanyewest.com.

You can also stream his new, more woke, single “Ye Vs. The People” below. Kanye and T.I. play separate parts and perspectives in the track, Kanye representing himself while T.I. takes the part of the confused masses.

[Intro: Four Tops] Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
I had for us
Turned my dreams into dust
I watch a phone that, I had for us
Turned my dreams into dust

[Verse: Kanye West & T.I.] I know Obama was Heaven-sent
But ever since Trump won, it proved that I could be President

Yeah you can, at what cost though?
Don’t that go against the teachings that Ye taught for?

Yo, Tip, I hear your side and everybody talk, though
But ain’t goin’ against the grain everything I fought for?

Prolly so, Ye, but where you tryna go with this?
It’s some shit you just don’t align with and don’t go against

You just readin’ the headlines, you don’t see the fine print
You on some choosin’-side shit, I’m on some unified shit

It’s bigger than your selfish agenda
If your election ain’t gon’ stop police from murderin’ niggas, then shit…

Bruh, I never ever stopped fightin’ for the people
Actually wearin’ the hat’ll show people that we equal

You gotta see the vantage point of the people
What makes you feel equal makes them feel evil

See that’s the problem with this damn nation
All Blacks gotta be Democrats, man, we ain’t made it off the plantation

Fuck who you choose as your political party
You representin’ dudes just seem crude and cold-hearted

With blatant disregard for the people who put you in position
Don’t you feel an obligation to them?

I feel a obligation to show people new ideas
And if you wanna hear ’em, there go two right here
Make America Great Again had a negative reception
I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction
Added empathy, care and love and affection
And y’all simply questionin’ my methods

What you willin’ to lose for the point to be proved?
This shit is stubborn, selfish, bullheaded, even for you
You wore a dusty ass hat to represent the same views
As white supremacy, man, we expect better from you

All them times you sounded crazy, we defended you, homie
Not just to be let down when we depend on you, homie
That’s why it’s important to know what direction you’re goin’ now
‘Cause everything that you built can be destroyed and torn down

You think I ain’t concerned about how I affect the past?
I mean, that hat stayed in my closet like ’bout a year and a half
Then one day I was like, “Fuck it, I’ma do me”
I was in the sunken place and then I found the new me
Not worried about some image that I gotta keep up
Lot of people agree with me, but they too scared to speak up

The greater good of the people is first
Have you considered all the damage and the people you hurt?
You had a bad idea, and you’re makin’ it worse

This shit’s just as bad as Catholic preachers rapin’ in church

Y’all been leadin’ with hate, see I just approach it different
Like a gang truce, the first Blood to shake the Crip’s hand
I know everybody emotional
Is it better if I rap about crack? Huh? ‘Cause it’s cultural?
Or how about I’ma shoot you, or fuck your bitch?
Or how about all this Gucci, ’cause I’m fuckin’ rich

You’ll deal with God for the lack of respect
Startin’ to make it seem like Donnie cut you a check
Now you toyin’ with hot lava, better be careful with that
What’s it mean to gain the world if you ain’t standin’ for shit?
Okay I gotta say it, Ye, you sound high as a bitch
Yeah, genocide and slavery, we should just try and forget
And all that free thought shit, find a better defense
But if Ye just stuck in his way, he can leave it at that
Fuck it

Alright T.I.P., we could be rappin’ about this all day, man, why don’t we just cut the beat off and let the people talk?
