1788-L Announces Forthcoming Collaboration With Zeds Dead

It’s hard to say if anyone has had a better year than 1788-L. From objective obscurity to touring with Rezz and Ekali, remixes for RL Grime (coming 12/7) and The Glitch Mob, and an absolutely dedicated fanbase, no one has had as quick a rise this year as 1788-L.

To put the cherry on the cake, 1788-L has just announced today that he’s working on a new collaboration with none other than Zeds Dead. It’s hard to say that this comes as a surprise, considering the artist’s debut EP was released via Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats imprint. Then again, it isn’t like every artist who releases on the label is guaranteed a collaboration with its founders.

As many IDs as 1788-L drops during his set, this is one that fans have probably never heard before. Check back with Your EDM as soon as more information comes out about this sure-to-be-awesome collaboration.

Electric Forest Goes Back To One Weekend In 2019

For the past two years, Electric Forest in Michigan has spanned two weekends. This is a testament to the popularity of the festival itself, as well as the sheer number of artists it brings each year. Next year, however, the festival will be returning to one weekend.

In a statement posted to social media by the festival earlier today, it is explained:

During the next year the Electric Forest grounds will see many exciting improvements that include upgraded landscapes, areas with new grass, and infrastructure improvements across the site. Most importantly, a new multi-year Sherwood Forest conservation plan will take effect.

Protecting and curating the grounds of Electric Forest for generations to come is important to all of the Forest Family. The impact that comes with two weekends will need to be reduced for the new improvements to take hold.

With conservation and longevity in mind, Electric Forest will be one magical weekend in 2019.

While this is sure to be a shame to many, next year’s event will likely be a more “intimate” event because of the change. Electric Forest 2019 is scheduled for June 27-30.

The Six in The Forest and Four in The Forest Loyalty on sale will take place on Wednesday, December 5. The Good Life and GA Loyalty on sale will take place on Thursday, December 6.

During the next year the Electric Forest grounds will see many exciting improvements that include upgraded landscapes,…

Okeechobee Releases Statement Confirming 2019 Event Is Cancelled

If there hasn’t been enough evidence yet from third parties that Okeechobee 2019 isn’t meant to be, then this will be the proverbial nail in the coffin. Okeechobee released a statement this morning confirming that the festival will not go forward as planned in 2019.

“For the past three years, we have witnessed 100,000 strangers, from all walks of life come together to our home of Sunshine Grove in Okeechobee, Florida, to live, laugh, listen, sing, dance, learn, create, meditate, downward dog, eat & drink, explore, give back, embrace, and live OMF’s mantra to Be, Here, Now. Now that’s love. […] While the OMF portal won’t be opening in 2019, we’re looking to March 2020, and we can’t wait to see you again. Thank you for your love, support and understanding.”

Okeechobee 2018 featured headlining performances by Arcade Fire, Bassnectar, Halsey, Travis Scott, and Snoop Dogg.

We love you Okeechobeeings, until we meet again…

Skrillex & Travis Scott Discuss The Possibility Of More Collaborations In The Future

Skrillex’s remix of “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott finally – finally – dropped this week, making it the third year running that Skrillex has had a major collaboration of some kind with a rapper (2016: Purple Lamborghini, 2017: Humble remix). Of the three, his “Sicko Mode” remix is by far the weakest, but that won’t stop bass DJs across the board from playing it out until our ears become numb to it.

Both artists spoke with Billboard about the remix and the process behind it. Skrillex admits it was a tough song to remix, with so many parts already embedded within it. For Scott, he wasn’t even aware that a remix was coming.

“From my end, I saw a little video of him fucking around with it in the studio. I was like, ‘Damn, this shit is fire.’ I didn’t even know if he was going to drop it or not,” Scott shared with Billboard.

Skrillex also explains the somewhat odd nature of the remix, in so far as keeping so many elements of the original intact while going ham on just that middle section. “I ended up kind of re-sounding some of the main elements, because I wanted to take it on kind of a journey and take it to new places after about halfway,” Skrillex told Billboard. But yeah, it’s a tough song to remix you know?”

However, one of the more important questions during the interview came as Billboard asked if there’s a possibility for any more collaborations down the road.

Scott: Hell yeah! He was playing me some beats and that shit was crazy.

Skrillex: When we were kicking it and working a little bit on the remix, we were kind of hanging out in the studio and I ended up playing him a ton of more beats. I like taking in everything organic and making everything natural. Doing something together in the future is definitely on the horizon, you know? It’s a vibe for sure.

Well, you heard ’em.

With a new perspective on the remix and the hope of future collaborations down the line, listen again to Skrillex’s remix and let us know if you think a from-scratch tune would sound dope or not.

ODESZA Announce Deluxe Album Release & Share “It’s Only” VIP

OOdesza yesterday teased a deluxe edition of their third album A Moment Apart with a beautiful video. Today, we get the VIP remix of their song “It’s Only” with Zyra and and absolutely brilliant.

The “It’s Only” VIP puts a much more tribal spin on the original, with emphasized studio production as opposed to live recording. The vocals get chopped and looped, pitched and thrown around. The drums are more wild and frenetic, but still retain Odesza’s signature beautiful melodies and rhythm. It’s hard to imagine a better or more appropriate VIP to come out of Odesza themselves than this.

And better yet, there’s more on the way. Thanks to River Beats, you can see the full tracklist of the deluxe album below, which appears to be releasing tomorrow, Friday November 30.

In addition to the “It’s Only” VIP, we’ll also be treated to a VIP of “Memories That You Call” from Odesza and Golden Features, and various reprises of songs like “Falls” and “Line Of Sight.” We’ll also be getting the duo’s massive trap anthem, “Loyal.”

This is out tomorrow, so we don’t have to wait long!

Swedish House Mafia Add Four Festival Dates To 2019 World Tour

Swedish House Mafia is gearing up for their full force comeback, and to make the hype even more real they just added some dates to their massive world tour.

Stockholm, Mexico City, Tinderbox in Denmark, Stavernfestivalen in Norway, Frequency Festival in Austria, and Creamfields in the UK will all be treated to live performances from these legends. Just today, they announced the festival dates to compliment their 2019 tour.

“We missed you guys,” the supergroup consisting of Steve Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso shares via social media. Well, that’s great — because EDM has missed this iconic trio. To top it all off, Axwell recently revealed they are indeed back in the studio making more sweet, sweet music together.

The next timer on SHM’s site goes off on 12/06/2018 at 9:00:00 UTC. Best believe another huge announcement is coming soon. See full list of dates and grab tickets via the official Swedish House Mafia website here.

Florian Picasso Drops New Electro House Banger, “The Answer”

Florian Picasso is back and he’s here to show us “The Answer.” Florian’s new track, out now on Musical Freedom, is a stunning electro-house banger of a track. Any DJ would be wise to include this one in their club set, because this one gets you grooving!

The song opens with only a slight build as a few horns sound over a snare. A brief vocal interjects stating “Show me the truth, and show me the answer.” This little production flourish calls to mind Florian’s collaboration with Martin Garrix, “Make Up Your Mind.” The vocal refrain repeats over the build until suddenly a pulsing electro synth groove hits against a steady kick drum beat. This one has some nasty low end to it.

From there the synth groove continues, except the kick drum gets switched out for hi-hats and snares. The drop eventually takes on a bit of a bass house vibe with some garage-y synths playing simultaneously with the synth groove. The horns and vocal refrain heard in the intro of the song return for the bridge before a much larger buildup leads into the drop again.

Check out Florian Picasso’s latest release, “The Answer,” out now on Musical Freedom Records.

Listen To Rezz’s Remix Of “Divinity” By Porter Robinson, Officially Out Now

Rezz fans have been waiting to get their hands on a streamable copy of Rezz’s remix of Porter Robinson’s “Divinity” since she coyly announced the remix some weeks ago. Debuted during her show at New City Gas in Montreal almost three weeks ago, it hasn’t taken long for the remix to become one of Rezz’s most powerful live weapons.

Now, thanks to an upload from Proximity, fans can listen to the remix ad nauseam. While the remix was powerful at shows and even enjoyable in live recordings, having the HQ version able to stream whenever and wherever we want is another blessing entirely.

Listen to the remix below.

Skrillex’s Remix of “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott Now Available For Purchase

We thought we might have to wait until Friday for the official “release” of Skrillex’s remix of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” at least as far as streaming services are concerned, but you can still get it now if you want. The remix just appeared on Travis Scott’s online store here.

After his “Humble” remix, this marks the next Skrillex track that every single bass producer will be playing in their sets. The first half of the track is more of an elaborate edit than a remix, though. Some new snares here, some vocal chops there, and call it a day. There’s more of a “drop” in the middle that has a lot more “typical” Skrillex flavor, but it lasts less than 30 seconds before Drake’s vocals come in.

The track ends with some jersey club edits thrown in.

It’s good, but… it’s not satisfying the way a delicious meal should be. It’s more of a light snack or hors d’oeuvres before the main course. Only, we don’t know what the main course is going to taste (read: sound) like.

Buy the remix here for $0.69 or listen below via Spotify.
