deadmau5 Encounters Technical Difficulties During Testpilot Set

As a part of the Detroit Techno Week celebration this Memorial Day Weekend, some of the biggest techno acts from around the world got together to headline Movement Detroit 2017. One of the most anticipated performances of the weekend belongs to the debut of deadmau5′ alias Testpilot. The Testpilot performance definitely lived up to the hype, but unfortunately, it did not come without a few complications such as rain delay and lighting spotting which led to long pauses throughout his set. Joel then proceed to do the most “deadmau5” thing possible by getting on the mic to crack a few jokes and talk some trash about the industry. Zimmerman has since promised his fans that he will re-record the set and air it on his next BBC Radio 1 residency show so that they can enjoy the set in full.

Damn. Thanks everyone for hanging in there with me during that disaster. I thought I was going to get crucified for sure. I’ll make it up 😉

Trey Songz – Nobody Else But You (Mozado Remix)

Following his recent flip of Beyonce’s “Naughty Girl” in March, producer Mozado has just returned with his newest remix, this time in the form of a smooth and sensual twist on Trey Songz‘ “Nobody Else But You.” Featuring crisp vocals, acoustic elements and an instantly catchy melody, the track explores the full potential of the original’s arrangement.

It begins with Trey Songz’ distant voice behind clean guitar strums before a simple, cutting percussion section takes over the pacing. A brief swell of noise brings us toward the chorus, where high-pitched vocal chops are thrown around the space above a warm sub bass and sultry chords.

Your EDM Premiere: LZ7 – Give My All

If you haven’t heard of LZ7, don’t worry, you’re not out of touch. Google describes them as a primarily Christian hip hop and dance group based out of the UK, so they occupy a distinct niche (a rather large one, at that, but a niche nonetheless). So when I was sent their new song “Give My All” and realized it was drum & bass, I hopped on it like an overeager chihuahua seeing a poodle in heat.

By all means, “Give My All” can be described as anthemic. Starting off with huge female vocals, and an instantly catchy melodic hook gives it a nostalgic and forward-facing vibe at the same time, feeling like you’ve heard this song for years and never before. As far as songwriting, the song is essentially perfect. From the hip hop verses to the massive chorus to the addictive bassline, everything is polished to an insane degree.

Pre-order is available for both “Give My All” and “Golden” now, with the release set to go live on Friday, June 2.

Location, Date, Lineup Announced For Ariana Grande’s Manchester Benefit Concert

Following the Manchester terrorist attack last week at an Ariana Grande concert, the pop singer promised fans that she would give back to the families of those who lost someone or had a family member who was injured in the attack. Grande promised to organize a benefit concert to raise money for victims.

“One Love Manchester” will take place on June 4 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Coldplay, Katy Perry, Pharrell, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Niall Horan and Take That will also take the stage.

This format bears resemblance to the WELCOME! concert that Zedd organized in Los Angeles in order to bring awareness to and raise money for those affected by the travel ban enacted by President Trump. The obvious difference in this case is the scope of those affected.

According to a press release, all proceeds from the show will go towards the “We Love Manchester Emergency Fund,” in partnership with the British Red Cross and Manchester City Council.

Loopers & Goja Take Us “Back To The Future” With New Single

I’ve already expressed my love for Goja enough times on Your EDM, but when put together with Loopers, expect a completely unstoppable duo. When the Dutch producer and Italian duo get in the studio together, you get incredible pieces like this “Back To The Future.”

It’s safe to say I’ve never really heard a tune like this before. Yeah, it’s electro house at its roots, but it’s so, so much more than that. The vocal chops are reminiscent of some Indian sensibilities, without being as direct as a song by KSHMR, for instance. At the same time, the drop is a wild mixture of distorted synths and pounding percussion; bringing the ethnic vocal chops back in as well gives it an even more layered flavor.

Expect equal parts headbanging and shuffling when this comes on at the function. Check out “Back To The Future” below.

KSHMR – Strange Lands

KSHMR - Strange Lands

KSHMR – Strange Lands

Fans of KSHMR have been awaiting the release of his new track ‘Harder‘ with dutch grandmaster Tiësto ever since he dropped it in his set at Ultra Music Festival earlier this year. While the track was supposed to have been released a few days ago it was delayed. Being the nice guy that he is, he dropped a new track ‘Strange Lands‘ as a free download.

Like much of his music, you hear his cultural influence right from the intro. The track opens up with beautiful Arabic vocals which then dominate the rest of the track. The first half of the track has that bigroom energy perfect for a festival mainstage. By the time the second drop comes around, he changes it up and drops it into a psytrance beat. This was definitely a good track to tide us over until he finally releases ‘Harder’.

Study says Mushrooms are The Safest Drug in the World

Mushrooms
Did you ever think that “safe” and “drug” would be used together in the same sentence, nonetheless, the same concept? In a paradoxical twist of events, a recent Study has shown that mushrooms are in fact the safest drug you can take.

It’s no secret that Magic Mushrooms have the power to evoke epiphanic and spiritual experiences within the psychedelic trips that they invoke. Due their psychedelic and therapeutic properties they been the subject of scientific inquiry in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Despite their dosage being carefully controlled in a lab environment, mushroom’s street recreational use has actually been found to be the safest. The Annual Global Drug Survey has revealed that mushrooms are the safest recreational drug you can consume. You heard right.

The data is based off of a global poll that asked 120,000 participants in 50 countries about their drug and alcohol use. They focused on the rate of emergency medical attention. That rate was five to six times lower for mushrooms than other hard level street drugs such as LSD, cocaine, MDMA, and even alcohol. The rate of weed-related emergency medical care was just 3 times higher than mushrooms, making mushrooms safer than rolling a spliff.

Global Drug Survey Founder and consultant addiction psychiatrist Adam Winstock states, “Magic mushrooms are one of the safest drugs in the world.” The greatest risk involved in consumption is knowing how to choose the proper type of mushroom. Additionally, proper dosing techniques are necessary to invoke the desired effect.

Taking mushrooms, like taking any other drug requires a self-awareness about one’s own physical and mental limits. When under the right conditions and environment, mushrooms can provide a transformative and fun experience for the user.

The 2017 Global Drug Survey Report is a helpful and honest guide to promote discussions about drug use and safety awareness. You can click here for the full report. Above all, being informed and safe about drugs is the best thing that you can whether you choose to do drugs or not.

Eric Prydz Debuts EPIC 5.0 Production, featuring Mind Blowing Holograms and Lasers [WATCH]

Eric Prydz debuted his brand new EPIC 5.0 show at London’s Steel Yard last night, and although it was just as epic as you can imagine, you don’t have to — just watch it instead!

As captured in the 3 part video below, the stage seems to take on a life of its own fueling the crowd with untouchable energy. The 2-hour journey showcases the legendary producer’s work and stunning vision as EPIC 5.0 proves once again that this series is an unmissable show for Prydz fans and a true rarity in electronic music production.

Obviously, it’s difficult to capture the intricacies of the visual art on display here — creative light patterns, 3D holograms and lasers on lasers on lasers. But, even through a 1080p lens, it looks pretty damn impressive.

Shoutout to YouTube user Fred Klem for the footage!

Here’s high definition look at that hologram…
