Mr. Carmack Uploads 50+ Tracks on SoundCloud

For someone constantly excavating for new artists and fresh tracks, a single is nice, 4-song EPs are good, and albums are great. But nothing beats a random and massive Thursday night SoundCloud dump from one of your favorite producers – thanks, Mr. Carmack.

Having uploaded 52 tracks and counting in the last hour, Mr. Carmack has yet to give any explanation of the torrent of new material aside from his rather narrative track titles and a simple watercolored cherry blossom accompanying all the songs as track art. But as musicians should do, I gladly welcome the music speaking for itself. Ranging from samples of Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” to those of DUCKWRTH’s “Time”, Carmack unequivocally showcases his handle with and versatility in different styles, all while curating some dope music for us. And don’t worry, lots classically-Carmack wonky noises and lightly ratchet tracks in between. I’ll be happily going down the entirety of the list tonight, but enjoy some standouts thus far below and check the rest out yourselves on his SoundCloud.

One more thing: they’re all available for free download. Whoot!

Tomorrowland May Expand To Two Weekends

Although Tomorrowland 2016 is right around the corner, organizers are already looking at 2017, hoping to bring in some big changes. According to Dutch publication ATV, the festival is working with Belgian authorities to expand the already enormous festival to two weekends for 2017.

While the ATV report is entirely in Dutch, the title shows “Tomorrowland…2 weekends” and a rough Google translation of their site reveals this:

tomorrowland 2tomorrowland 2

And with partner-festival TomorrowWorld getting cut from the 2016 lineup, it would make sense to expand the more successful, original festival to greater heights. And another ATV report suggests that many locals are open to the idea of a second weekend, which would make the entire process that much easier for Tomorrowland organizers. Check out the ATV report and make of it what you will, and stay tuned for more updates as they come!

Avicii Debuts Brand New Single, “Feeling Good (Avicii by Avicii)”

The last time we heard from Avicii, he and his team effectively cancelled Netherlands festival The Flying Dutch after failing to respond to concerns that he would not make it to his headlining performance slot. After canceling several shows in the past, the uncertainty surrounding his appearance was enough for organizers to shut down the entire event.

Ever since June, Avicii has continued to tour while remaining active on the social front. With the days steadily winding down until his retirement, fans are clamoring for any new material they can get their hands on.

Lucky for them, Avicii released a brand new single on Friday, “Feeling Good (Avicii by Avicii)” along with an accompanying music video. The track features a soulful rendition of Nina Simone’s original vocals, breaking gradually into a pounding, electro anthem.

The music video displays shots of Avicii’s tour and lifestyle over the last season, creating in a viscerally emotional effect on the viewer.

As we enjoy the last few months of regular Avicii programming, check below to watch the video in full.

Elephante – Catching On (Ft. Nevve)

Catching On

Elephante – Catching On (Ft. Nevve)

Elephante has truly come into his in 2016. Both producing his own music and creating remixes for the likes of MakoGalantisClean Bandit and more, he has truly shown that progressive music is his forte and love. While songs like “Black Ivory” have shown that he has a knack for other music styles as well, his newest song “Catching On” featuring Nevve shows off yet another side of Elephante that has yet to be seen until now. The song seems to be a product of the environment that it was created in: Elephante noted that he wrote it with the talented singer on a rainy day in Los Angeles. Carrying a chill vibe that has hints of tropical house, the song is perfect for relaxing. Elephante also adds that this is probably his favorite song that he produced, and we agree! Grab a free download of the song below.

Gunslinger – Mental Noise (Directors Cut)

Mental Noise

Gunslinger – Mental Noise (Directors Cut)

Coming in hot before the weekend is Gunslinger with a little something something you think you might know, but with some new surprises. Droppin’ as a free download, “Mental Noise (Directors Cut)” is a revamped rendition of his Magik Musik release several months ago, and takes things to a whole new level, making for a much more robust audible journey. Taking things in a less mainstream “EDM” direction and more towards the realm of alternative+indie dance, “Mental Noise” is a dangerously potent chemistry set of driving synths, heavy guitars, pounding drums, and an indefatigable bassline to keep the energy going. With the director’s cut, you get the same length of music but much more depth, ebbing and flowing from calm to insane, making for a great dance floor offering. Check it out below, let us know what you think, and don’t forget to grab the free download!
