Ultra Drops Phase Two Lineup, Adds Dog Blood, Nero, Tom Morello & more

Having already put out a stellar phase one lineup with the likes of Testpilot, Zedd, The Chainsmokers, Illenium, Odesza, and others, Ultra Music Festival today announces its phase two lineup along with daily stage lineups.

Getting added to the lineup today are Adam Beyer vs Cirez D, Black Coffee, Dog Blood, Gigantic NGHTMRE (Big Gigantic + NGHTMRE), Tom Morello, k?d, NERO, SPOR, Peekaboo, Whipped Cream, Space Jesus, and more.

Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and The Chainsmokers will close out the festival each day, respectively, making this one of the most-pop headliner lineups of any dance music festival this year. Deadmau5 will headline the Live Arena on Saturday with his Cube 3.0, and then the Resistance Reflector on Sunday, as Testpilot.

Each day seems to have plenty to pay attention to and lots of time to bounce around from stage to stage. The only things left are the final lineup announcement (filling in those blanks) as well as the actual festival map.

Alan Walker Hits Fox Theater In Oakland This Thursday

Alan Walker began his Different World tour this past weekend, in support of his debut album of the same name. With ZAXX and K-391 providing support, and special guests on select dates, this is proving to be one of Walker’s biggest solo outings of his career.

This Thursday, February 7, Alan Walker will play the Fox Theater in Oakland. One of nine west coast dates, it will be one of the biggest shows of the tour. There’s a lot to look forward to during his 90-minute set, including this forthcoming remix of “Time” by Hans Zimmer, which is surely even more impressive in person!

Marshmello’s Fortnite Concert Sees Astronomical Rise In Social Media Engagement

Marshmello’s Fortnite concert, while initially viewed through a sort of “what is this” lens, ended up probably being the greatest brand cross-promotion of the year, and it’s only February. The concert drew a crowd of 10 million users, which set a record for most concurrent users on the platform in its history.

But beyond just the engagement within the game, Marshmello also saw an astronomical increase in impressions and engagement across all of his social media channels. YouTube in particular saw the largest rise of all.

“On February 3 (one day after the Fortnite concert) Marshmello gained 699k new subscribers (nearly a 1,800% increase from his previous daily gain of 37k),” writes Jose Arroyo. “He also amassed over 42.8M YouTube views, an increase of about 500% from his January average of 7.8 million views per day.”

In addition to the rise on YouTube, Marshmello gained over 147K new Twitter followers this past week, up more than 2,000% from the week before (6,800). His Twitter mentions also increased by more than 1,000% (from 4,800 to 57,500).

There’s no doubt that after seeing the success Marshmello’s concert brought to his brand overall that other artists will try to hop on the train, as well. However, it’s a lot easier for a DJ to play a set on a virtual platform than it would be for, say, a hip hop artist or an entire rock band.

The future of gaming and music together is bright.

Champagne Drip – Starman EP

Wakaan is on something of a sick roll at the moment. The bass label has just put out the Starman EP from Champagne Drip, who has released music on various record labels since he started out in the scene.

There are four tracks to soak up within this set. The first makes a statement as ‘Sentinel,’ before the sample-filled ‘Soundboy Dead’ brings out a striking bassline and fresh melodies. The final two are ‘Kaleidoscope’ and ‘Satellite’ and both craft almost floating riffs and light dustings of vocals.

The EP’s creator says of the EP: “With Starman I wanted to create a more diverse record. Each track was started during a different time of inspiration so they all come from a different place. It was really exciting pulling these together and making something cohesive.”

Original Sin – Inertia

Well established for his rowdy jump up style of drum and bass, Original Sin presents his next single through Ram Records. The UK based artist ensures that ‘Inertia’ makes a bold statement – we’ve had this one turned up loud for the past few days!

A striking, atmospherically rich introduction settles the listener into a false sense of security. Just as you start to relax and soak up its melodic vibes, he brings out the big guns. We’re talking storming drum patterns and edge of the seat bass thuds that continue relentlessly until the breakdown.

FANGS Releases Another Dance Floor Heater, “Get Ready” [LISTEN]

“Get Ready,” because FANGS just hit us with another repeatable track that’s perfect for the dance floor!

The producer takes a sharp turn from his usual dark and mysterious vibrations for a party house anthem that thrives with a more upbeat energy. Balancing a classic sound with modern appeal has become FANGS’ forte, and this new production is no exception.

The producer previously revealed to us, “MY PRODUCING RELIES ON NEEDING TO KNOW WHAT CAME BEFORE SO I CAN BREAK THE RULES.”

As “Get Ready” track progresses, it gradually builds momentum. First, you might be bobbing your head or tapping your foot to the rhythm. Soon enough, you’ll be on your feet and by the time “Get Ready” drops off into its second release — your entire body will be grooving.

It was only a matter of time before Rezz teamed up with Blanke. Their song together provided us with some instant gratification, for sure. The Chainsmokers Afterparty with The Super Bowl Trophy [WATCH]

Last year The Chainsmokers played an event over Super Bowl weekend — and this year, they’re partying with the trophy. Next stop, Halftime show?

In the video below, Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart are seen rocking out at an afterparty last night. Proudly supporting the New England Patriots‘ big win, the guys appear on stage at the afterparty with the Vince Lombardi Trophy front and center. As “Something Just Like This” plays out, they seem to be on top of the world.

It was a big night for EDM. Alison Wonderland‘s “Here 4 U” was highlighted for a Super Bowl ad and Marshmello‘s “Happier” played out of a break. It’s exciting to hear these artists taking over.

In case you were wondering, the Patriots won over the Rams in a 13-3 Super Bowl LIII victory.

13 Unleashes Impeccably Produced ‘Old World Order’ EP [MUST LISTEN]

13 makes his mark with his brand new and totally savage Old World Order EP.

Following up a hefty run of one-off singles and two massive collaborations with Rezz, the producer presents his first full body of work. The triple-threat release feeds off adrenaline and is driven by cutting-edge sound design and unmistakable style all his own.

“Uppercut” is just that. A swift attack with powerful bass and aggressive drum patterns, sure to increase that heart rate and leave you wondering what hit you. The impeccable soundscape continues with “Lost Voices,” in which 13 lays down a seriously sick, trap-inspired production with insanely crafted rhythm. “Rude Boy” wraps up the release perfectly, with no shortage of heavy-hitting filth.

13 started making a name for himself in the music scene after the release of his debut single “Eradicate” in May of 2017. Since then he has spent countless hours in the studio working with analog synthesizers to create a distinct and recognizable sound of his own. It’s easy to hear why he’s one of our Artists To Watch in 2019.

Old World Order is out now via Mad Decent. Blast it right here.
