Amazon’s Smart Speaker Will Soon Offer Apple Music For The First Time

Amazon x Apple Music is now a thing!

The two music giants are finally teaming up, as Apple Music is about become available on Amazon’s Echo. Previously this was not an option, but come December 17th, users will be able to access Apple Music’s sprawling library via smart speaker.

Apple and Amazon are still competitors in other aspects. For example, Amazon doesn’t sell the Siri-driven HomePod as of now. Instead, the commerce website offers its own Echo. At least with this agreement they have come to some terms. It’s nice to see Amazon and Apple playing nice together.

With this move, Apple Music joins Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Amazon’s own Amazon Music. All of which are services currently offered by the Echo and other Alexa devices.

Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, next” notches new Youtube and Vevo records

The music video for Ariana Grande’s hit “thank u, next” came out yesterday and has already set new records for YouTube and Vevo. It’s been a little over 24 hours since the video came out and, at time of publishing, it’s sitting pretty at 55 million views.

Before it even reached 24 hours, however, it had already become the most-watched video on YouTube in a 24 hour period. It also broke the same record on Vevo.

p.s. we set a new @vevo record. that’s wild. i love u. thank u.

— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) December 1, 2018

The record was previously held by BTS and their song “Idol,” and “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift before that.

Haywyre Completes Return From 2-Year Hiatus With Full “Panorama: Discover” EP

After dropping singles “Tell Me” and “Storyteller,” Haywyre is finally back with the full Panorama: Discover EP. Spanning six tracks, Discover is the first of six smaller projects expected from Haywyre’s Panorama.

Haywyre fans from any period of his career are sure to love Discover, as it blends his classic jazz knowledge with blazing electronic flourishes and pizzazz. “Stepping Stones” serves as a perfect introduction to the EP, preceding the two already-released singles, as it offers up some bouncy funk and groove like no other.

However, the song that I’ve been waiting for fans to hear since I received the EP weeks ago is absolutely “Square One.” Having listened to Haywyre since before his Monstercat days, I can confidently say this is one of my favorite songs he has ever released.

“In a sense, this [Panorama: Discover] is as personal as it gets. I drew from everything I could. Moments of excitement, love, discovery, realization, connection, but also fear, insecurity, depression and disgust. I wanted the full spectrum. In another sense, it couldn’t be less personal, because I’m avoiding the literal personal accounts that drove me to create this in the first place. I don’t want people hearing my story, I want people hearing their story in my music.” – Haywyre

Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus Have A Hit On Their Hands with “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” [MUSIC VIDEO]

Nothing’s gonna save us now — except maybe Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus. Their new collaborative track “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” is pure, audible bliss, despite the harsh reality of the subject matter.

It’s Mark and Miley against the world on this one. The outstanding production is sure to melt hearts, certainly not break them — but, there’s a deeper message. The beautifully shot music video below hones in on the lyrics and amplifies the message to relate to the cruel world we live in.

Mark Ronson does wonders with release as Miley’s profound vocals lead the way. And, if you hear some extra influence in there, that’s because Jamie xx has a co-producer credit on this one. Together, these artists find an intriguing jive that’s easy to dance to, or break down and cry to. Either way, it’s glorious and a sure hit.

Dance and pop come together so perfectly here. That might not save the world, but it saves us.

Watch here and let us know what you think!

Nero Teases New Music Coming Out December 4

With the exceptions of their 2808 EP and collaboration with Zhu, the world hasn’t seen new music from Nero in over three years. Between II Worlds was their last significant release, earning our distinction of #1 album of the year at the time.

Now, right at the end of 2018, Nero is teasing the world with new music in an oh-so-Nero way.

We don’t get more than a flickering screen animated on an old TV, with what sounds like one of those old radar sounds you hear in movies about submarines. And then a date flashes across the screen: 4.12.2018. (Nero are from the UK, so this is December 4, for those who are confused.)

With absolutely zero additional information available, we’re forced to wait. Then again, it’s only four days from now, so it could be worse.

Check out the teaser below.

Whethan Turns Skrillex’s Travis Scott Remix Into What It Should Have Been

Skrillex’s so-called remix of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” turned out to be more of an edit, but Whethan is here to save the day.

While Whethan is mostly known for his glittery future bass tracks, he knows how to throw down, too. His flip of Skrillex’s “Sicko Mode” remix is precisely what we were hoping Skrillex was dropping in the first place: an in-your-face bass tune worthy of pumping at full volume.

The fact that Whethan even managed to make two separate drops out of just the remix, which he likely had no stems to, just reinforces that Skrillex’s original remix had so much potential.

Listen to Whethan’s turn of Skrillex’s remix of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” below.

Alesso, 3LAU & Tycho Release New Songs As Part Of Ninjawerks Compilation

Recently, Astralwerks Records announced their groundbreaking partnership with Ninja, the world’s biggest gamer. In a first for the music and gaming worlds, Astralwerks and Tyler “Ninja” Blevins have joined forces on a revolutionary new project, Ninjawerks – an original soundtrack featuring music from top electronic artists around the globe.

Today, three original songs from the forthcoming Ninjawerks Volume 1 soundtrack were released – “Tilted Towers” by Alesso, “Jetty” by Tycho, and 3LAU’s “Game Time” featuring the vocals of Ninja himself. Yesterday, Ninja was joined by the each of three artists on his Twitch Channel to premiere the tracks while gaming.

Alesso delivers an enthralling house tune, energetic and suspenseful, with modern touches and nostalgic emphasis; Tycho does what Tycho does best and creates a sprawling soundscape that draws you in; and 3LAU teams up with Ninja himself for a banging electro beat.

To kick off the holiday season, Ninja and Astralwerks launched the first exclusive Ninjawerks merch item last week with the option to pre-order the album on Ninja’s website – here. The hand drawn album cover created by illustrator Paris Alleyne was unveiled last week. Each artist from the album will have their own unique character illustration, bringing the world of Ninjawerks to life.

Set for release on December 14, Ninjawerks Volume 1 will be available in digital, CD and vinyl formats. Kaskade and Nero are among the other acclaimed electronic artists who are contributing original songs to the soundtrack. Look for more songs and artists to be revealed soon. A wide range of additional merchandise, Ninjawerks accessories and original artwork will be rolled out over the coming weeks.

Ninja will celebrate the release of the album’s first three tracks at the official Ninjawerks launch party, which will be held on Sunday, December 2, at Capitol Records in Hollywood. He will stream live from the event accompanied by DJ sets from several of the artists on Volume 1.

Alesso explained, “I made this record after being inspired by Fortnite’s Tilted Towers. It’s where most people land so it’s very action-packed, intense, and chaotic. I’ve been playing this song during my shows and everyone has been enjoying it. When I found out about this project with Ninja, I knew that it was the perfect home.”

3LAU said, “Since playing Ocarina of Time, video games have been a huge part of my life, and the best soundtracks always caught my ear (especially Zelda). When I had the opportunity to work with Ninja on ‘Game Time’ & the Ninjawerks compilation, I was insanely excited to combine two lifelong interests. In making ‘Game Time,’ the goal was to meld more nostalgic video-game sounds with a modern club-oriented bass line & of course, Ninja’s synthesized vocals. It was the perfect recipe for a high energy record, and we are all so excited for the world to hear it!”

Tycho said, “I’ve always been inspired by video games and the alternate reality they offer, this is something I try to achieve in my music: to transport the listener to another space. I'm excited to connect my music with an art form that I enjoy so much.”

DROELOE & Fytch Drop New Collaboration, “Through The Storm”

Today, Dutch duo DROELOE are rounding out their two-part tastemaking series, which kicked off last month with their Sem collab, “Facing The Sea.” L0ng time admirers of Fytch, DROELOE has now teamed up with the innovative French bass producer on new single “Through The Storm.”

As usual when Fytch is on a track, his vocals shine brightly in that lustrous and unique fashion. The same could be said of the drop, which combines DROELOE’s aesthetic with Fytch’s crunchy and heavily modulated bass synths for a fantastic effect.

And though not usually emphasized in EDM productions, the lyrics are just as poignant as the vocals are hypnotic.

As Fytch explains, “‘Through The Storm’ is an Oath…a promise to always be a light when the storms of life obscure the view of the shoreline. Sometimes all that you need is one person to promise to keep shining a light. This can be the difference between making it to shore safely or being dashed on the edges of a rocky coast.”

Listen to “Through The Storm” below and check out the A-side “Facing the Sea” with Sem here.
